Thule FastRide Roof Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4

Today, on our 2017 Toyota RAV4, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule FastRide roof-mounted bike rack. When you're setting up your crossbar spread, we wanna make sure it's not gonna be any less than 18 inches from the center of your crossbar to the center of the other crossbar, and we don't want it to be any more than 36 inches. So whenever you're setting that up, it's usually gonna be about in the same bounds as your other accessories. So just make sure you do that, so that it's gonna be compatible. We are gonna be able to fit tire width up to three inches, so this isn't gonna be for your fat tire bikes, and it is relatively lighter weight since it's on the roof as typical with most roof bike racks. So we're gonna have a capacity of about 37 1/2 pounds. more

Hey, everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby and today we're taking a look at the Inno Tire Hold II roof-mounted bike rack, here on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. Now, this can be a great way of getting your bikes off the back of the vehicle and up on top, saving you a lot of room and maneuverability, as well as freeing up your hitch for some of those bigger accessories that we need to carry wherever we're going. This can be also a very great option if you're living in the city and don't have that much room in your parallel parking and that way you can go ahead and get it on the top roof of your car. One thing I would suggest with that, though, if you are going for that city parking, we have it on the driver's side here today. A couple of tricks though, you can put that on the passenger side just as easily, which is one thing that's great about the Inno Tire Hold II. more

Yakima Roof Bike Racks Review - 2020 Mazda CX-5

Andy: Hello everyone! Andy here from etrailer.com and today we're going to take a look at the Yakima High Road Roof Bike Rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-5.So this roof rack is going to be great for hauling just a single bike. It's a great option whenever you . let's say you don't have a hitch and you either have after market roof bars because you carry a ski or snowboard, or a cargo basket on top, or you even have the factory-installed roof bars, as well. This would be a great choice. One thing that is nice about it is going to be how low-profile it is and it only having the mounting hoops on the front, that way you don't have to, kind of, fight with mounting the rear wheel from the back. Being a little bit higher up, it is a little bit more difficult to get that bike up there, but this is going to be a great option whenever it comes to easy as far as putting the bike up on top of the roof. When it comes to getting your bike secured to the roof rack here, there are two mounting hoops and one attachment point here on the rear that's a strap. So let's go ahead and show you how to get the bike off of the vehicle now.First, I'm going to go ahead and remove the rear points, since most of our contact and security is going to be in the front and from here, I'm going to hold onto the frame and loosen up this torque knob here and that's slowly going to lower that back and bar down and once I've removed that tension, I can kind of hold onto the bike, remove a little bit more on that torque knob, and slowly get it moved down as I'm holding onto the bike, as well. more

Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2020 Mazda CX-5

Andy: Hello, everyone. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're going to take a look at the Inno Tire Hold 2 roof bike rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-5. One of the reasons to choose the roof mounted bike rack, instead of let's say a hitch mount, and you might have a cargo basket or cargo carrier that's back on the back, you don't have the options or you have a factory mounted roof bars, this would be a great choice because it is an easy installation with all shapes and sizes as far as the roof bars that it mounts to. It's a quick and easy installation with no tools needed, and you can adjust it whether you want it on the driver's side or on the passenger side as well.So having this as a option on your CX-5 works best with carbon fiber or carbon frame bikes, is tire mounted or wheel mounted, and it will be able to adjust to other size frames, other size wheels as well. So it could work great with kids' bikes. more

It's going to be a really good roof mounted bike rack that allows you to carry it by the wheels. So a lot of roof bike racks are fork mount, and those are really nice because you can just quickly put them on there. You don't have to reach as high as you do with a wheelbase mount style like we have here today. But what I like about wheel mounts is I don't have to find a place to store my front tire. more

Yakima Roof Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota Tacoma

Evangeline: Hi. It's Evangeline from etrailer.com and today we are looking at the Yakima High Road roof bike rack on our 2020 Toyota Tacoma. Now, what's great about this bike rack is if you need to mount your bike and have it ready to go right when you dismount it, it's great for that. It has a wheel mount as well, so we have our carbon fiber frame bike up there and it's okay because you don't have to worry about warping, like we might would maybe either frame mounts. Now, some other bike racks, especially roof bike racks, might be forked bike racks. And the main difference for here is that with this one, you don't have to worry about taking off your front wheel, storing it while you're on your trip and reattaching it after you arrive. You just lift it off and you're ready to go.So while this is a great bike rack, the question is can your bike fit on it So this can handle wheel diameters of 26 to 29. more

Adam: What's going on everybody Adam at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Mountain Trail roof mounted bike rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-30. So in my opinion, this is going to be a great way just to get one bike to and from your destination with our CX-30 here, just because it's not necessarily a really tall vehicle. So with a roof rack system on it, it's very, very easy to get even the maybe more heavier bikes up and on to our rack. It's something you could do by yourself obviously, we only have one here. But we can do plenty of these bike racks on this roof rack system. So if you have a friend, grab two of them, you can put them on both sides and you guys will both be able to easily lift this up and load it up yourselves. So one thing that I thought of when I pulled the CX-30 into the shop, it's pretty attractive looking. more

Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima HighSpeed roof-mounted bike rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-30.So this bike rack is going to be great for not only just your fork mounted bikes, but also your thru-axle bikes. It gives you all those options for your bikes and also some wheel adjustability to accommodate for all those different wheel bases that you might be carrying. And also with the way that it secures down to our bars, we're going to be able to use a wide variety of bars. We have some aerodynamic bars that we have here, but even if you have round bars, square bars, pro bars, something like that, even the BedRock HD bars, they are going to clamp around there really, really easily. So right when the CX-30 pulled up, I really liked the look of it and especially the look of the back end of it. more

Kuat Mini Skinny Roof Cargo Basket and Bike Carrier Installation - 2018 Chrysler Pacifica- Video

Kuat Mini Skinny Roof Cargo Basket and Bike Carrier Installation - 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Mini Skinny Roof Cargo Basket and Bike Carrier, part number MSR1B.The Kuat Mini Skinny is great for carrying up to one bike in your cargo basket and it still has enough free space to have some luggage up here as well. It's skinny enough that you could have additional accessories on the other side of it.The basket does have an aerodynamic shape and that coupled with the fact that it has a fairing already installed as well, that's going to cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive, meaning a quieter drive while you're on the road. The backside of the basket actually folds up and this is to assist with giving you a little bit of better clearance between the hatch and the trunks of your vehicle. But as you can see in this configuration, that there's not going to be an issue of clearance between our hatch and the cargo basket.Where the bike attaches to our roof basket here, you want to make sure it's able to fit through a 9 mm skewer and also this will work with both standard and disc brakes. Also, as you can see here, there's plenty of space in between the roof rack and the roof here to where our cargo basket isn't going to have any contact issues with there as well. This does come with locks to secure it to your roof and they're going to be at the top here, right over where our brackets make contact. The maximum crossbar spread for this is going to be 14-5/8 from center to center and 35-7/8 center to center. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Nissan Frontier we're going to be test fitting the Thule Circuit XT Rooftop Bike Rack, part number TH526XT.We already have a bike installed on our rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike attaches to the rack we're not going to have any frame contact at all. Instead, it's going to grip it by two points. We'll have this rear wheel strap, which is adjustable to length of the bike rack to accommodate for bikes of different sizes, and then up at the front we'll have this skewer mount, which grips your bike by its fork mounts up here. The skewer mount is lockable, and once you install a Thule lock cord to lock it into place and secure it to your bike rack, it actually secures not only the bike, but the bike rack itself to the roof rack. It just goes slightly past the cab of your truck, so it's not going to interfere with much of anything as far as anything you may store in the bed of your truck.Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Thule Paceline Roof Bike Rack Installation - 2009 Acura MDX

Today on our 2009 Acura MDX, well be test fitting the Thule Paceline Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number TH527. Now our Acura has a factory roof rack, so well begin our test fit by simply placing the bike rack up onto the vehicles crossbars. We need to lift it up, both cam action levers at the front of the rack, so that we can position the L-bracket on the underside of the front bar. Now there are three settings here where you can set the L-bracket to fit the thickness of your crossbar. I set it to about the second notch. Once we tighten that down a little bit, well then close down both cam action levers and move to the back of the bike rack. Ill loosen up two of the wing nuts so that I can position the bracket around the underside of the rear bar. more

Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2011 Chevy Traverse, we'll be test fitting the Yakima front loader roof mounted bike rack, part number Y02103. With the factory roof rack system on our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the bike rack up onto the vehicle's cross bars. Starting at the front, we'll need to loosen up the large black T handle and position the front tube brackets around the front and back side of the front crossbar. It helps if you lift the bike rack up at a 45 degree angle. Once the front brackets are in place, I'll move to the rear and position the back bracket around the rear crossbar. I'll need to insert the silver T bolt into the slot in the bottom bracket and then to give us some more room when tightening down the black wing nut I'm going to unfold the front part of the wheel hook. This allows me to tighten down the black wing nut more freely. Once the rear is tight, I'll move back up to the front and tighten down the large black T handle to secure the front part of the bike rack to the front bar. Once everything is all tightened down and secured, then we're ready to load up our bike. Since the front part of the wheel hook is already unfolded all we need to do is undo the back tray strap. We'll pick up our bike and place it onto the bike rack, sliding it forward to allow the back part of the wheel hook to come up and rest on the back part of the front tire. more

With the bracket in place, I can reinsert the silver T bolt into the slot of the bracket and tighten down the black wing nut to secure it.
